Lessons are 45-Minute Private or Semi-Private Sessions.  Our students range in age from elementary school students to retirees.  Students entering our program must already have the knowledge and ability to saddle their own horse.  As stated above, the lesson program at Darby Downs limits the number of riders accepted into its program.  Our program is specifically tailored for riders already possessing basic riding skills & looking for enhanced instruction.  Therefore there is a waiting list for those interested in joining our program.   Individuals seriously wanting to be considered for our program should place their name on the waiting list so they can be considered should an opening come available.  This can sometimes be frustrating, but remember the best programs will have a waiting list and our clients will tell you we are well worth the wait.

Darby Downs' students are educated on horse-keeping; health care and first aid; sports psychology and many other skills required to become a good horseperson.  Our students are provided the opportunity to participate in competitions (although this is not a requirement to become a student).  Coaching at competitions is supported in both Pennsylvania & Ohio in Dressage, Hunter/Jumpers, Eventing & Combined Training.  We can also assist you in the search for the right equine companion.
