Darby Downs Beginning Young Rider Academy Programs (Ages 6-12)

Beginner Academy

Semester 1 $60.00 Class $25.00 2 Classes $50.00

This program is specifically tailored for younger riders that love horses.  Sessions will cover a variety of subjects, including but not limited to:

Horse Behavior - Safety & Horses - Handling Horses - Grooming & Saddling - Beginning Riding -

Mounted & Unmounted Games - Crafts .... and much, much more

Topics covered in each semesters will vary, and there may sometimes be a short review of items covered in earlier classes.  Those attending these semesters will also have the opportunity to achieve various Levels of Horsemanship Skills recognized by the Certified Horsemanship Association.  Riding will be included when covering certain topics so riders must come prepared to ride with long pants and a shoe with a heel.  Helmets will be supplied to start, but parents are encouraged to purchase helmets if their children continue to participate in equestrian activities.

I Do Not Currently Take Lessons at Darby Downs - Can I Attend?

Yes - These Classes are Open to Members of the Public. 

Looking to get accepted into the Darby Downs Lesson Program?  This is a great way to start!  Participants in the Beginner Academy Program will have a better chance of gaining a lesson time when one comes available. 

Can I Attend Future Semesters if I am unable to attend the First?    Yes.

Do I Get Credit if I Miss a Session?  There are no refunds or credits for missing a session within the semester.  However, those signing up for consecutive semesters will receive a $5 Coupon toward the next semester.

What if I Want to Attend a Single Session?  If there is availability in the class - cost of attending a single session of the academy classes is $25. 

 

Will You be Holding This Program for Other Age Groups? 

YES - we are planning future dates for both ADULT and Teenage sessions - STAY TUNED!
