What is an Academy Class?

Academy Classes are group sessions that will cover a variety of subjects, including but not limited to

Horse Health Care - Ground Training - Lungeing of Horses & Riders - Showing - Trail Riding -

Bomproofing Your Horse - Video Analysis - Cross Country - Drill Teams -

Mounted & Unmounted Games - .... and much more

Subjects in each semesters will vary, and there may sometimes be a short review of items covered in earlier classes.  The subject of the classes may or may not be announced in advance.  Younger riders attending these semesters will also have the opportunity to achieve various Levels of Horsemanship Skills recognized by the Certified Horsemanship Association. 

Do I Have to Know How to Ride to Participate?

What Age Groups Can Attend?

The Classes listed on the Current Page are Open to Riders of All Ages. 

I Do Not Currently Take Lessons at Darby Downs - Can I Attend?

Yes - These Classes are Open to Members of the Public as Long as you Can Demonstrate Current Riding/Saddling Knowledge (participants must be able to Walk/Trot).

Can I Attend Future Semesters if I am unable to attend the First?    Yes.

Do I Get Credit if I Miss a Session? 

There are no refunds or credits for missing a session within the semester.  However, those signing up for consecutive semesters will receive a $5 Coupon toward the next semester.

 

What if I Want to Attend a Single Session? 

 

If there is availability in the class, the cost of attending a single session of the academy classes is $25.
